In an ABC News/Washington Post poll shows that 66 percent of respondents said Trump is doing more to divide the country than unite it. The percentage is higher than Presidents George W. Bush or Barack Obama ever received; both topped at 55 percent.
Despite a small uptick in his popularity, he still remains at the lowest level of popularity of any president at this stage in his presidency. At 8 months 57 percent disapprove of the job he is doing and only 39 percent approve. Polling for approval ratings began during the presidency of Harry S. Truman.
Sixty-two of poll respondents do not trust the president to act responsibly in handling the situation with North Korea, while 37 percent do. Seventy-two percent trust U.S. military leaders, about double the number who support of the president.
Trump tweeted late Saturday night, “Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won’t be around much longer!”
