BREAKING: Trump Wages Twitter War on Athletes But Ignores Disaster in Puerto Rico

At a rally in Alabama for the re-election of Senator Luther Strange President Trump condemned protests by professional athletes, while not naming former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaerpernick by name, he said, “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, he’s fired’?”

The NFL quickly condemned the statement as did numerous sports figures, Trump then tweeted, “Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team. Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!”

He then tweeted, “If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL, or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect our Great American Flag (or Country) and should stand for the National Anthem. If not, YOU’RE FIRED. Find something else to do!”

However, he failed to address the devastation in Puerto Rico in his Twitter feed, last tweeting about it on September 21 before Hurricane Maria hit. The territory faces devastation of its power grid, a failing dam that prompted the evacuation of 70,000 people and 10 dead with that number expected to grow.
